Mr. and Mrs. Detloff Ericksen [Erichsen] residing south of Remsen, mourn the loss of their three year old daughter, Alma, who died on Saturday [April 25] after a few days’ illness. – Le Mars Semi-Weekly Sentinel, Friday, May 3, 1907, page 4.

“There is, at this writing, not one case of Scarlet Fever in Remsen. The places where cases have been heard from heretofore, are all in a healthy condition and we can all presume that the danger is practically over.

There are one or two isolated cases reported from the country, but in these one only proved fatal. A three-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Detlef Erichsen in Remsen township, died within the last week, and the unhappy and unexpected event cast a gloom over the wide circle of friends of that muchly esteemed family, for whom the sincerest sympathies of all are generally expressed.

Outside of a case in the home of Nicholas Treinen in Meadow township, nothing serious is being reported by the doctors and health committees.” - Remsen Bell-Enterprise

Note: The parents were Detlef and Catherine D. (Jacobsen) Erichsen.
