Mrs. August Witt, Remsen, Died in Le Mars Hospital Sunday.
Mrs. August Witt of Remsen died Sunday, April 17, in Sacred Heart hospital as the result of a paralytic stroke suffered a few days previous.
Henrietta Harms, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harm Harms, was born Oct. 28, 1885, at Minonk, Ill. She came to Plymouth county when three years old and spent the remainder of her life on farms in Remsen and Marcus vicinity.
Mrs. Witt is survived by her husband, August Witt, and the following children: Miss Vivian Witt and Mrs. Elmer Ware (Myrtle), Cherokee, Mrs. Earl Juhl (Mabelle), Remsen, and a son Leonard, of Groten, S.D. She is also survived by four sisters: Miss Wally Harms, Los Angeles, Calif; Mrs. Mat Lyle, Beresford, S.D.; Mrs. Lief Dahl and Mrs. Paul Janke, Oakland, Calif. One sister, Anne, died in 1936.
Funeral services at 2:30 Wednesday afternoon at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran church in Remsen were conducted by Rev. Paul Wuebben. Interment was in Remsen city cemetery. – Le Mars Semi-Weekly Sentinel, April 22, 1949, page 1.
