Kloster, Jens A. 1890-1987

Jens A. Kloster, 96, of Oyens, died Thursday (Jan. 22, 1987) at Plymouth Manor Care Center in Le Mars.

Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Remsen. Rev. Myron Herzberg will officiate. Burial will be in the Remsen City Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 2 to 9 p.m. Sunday with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. in the Moeller Funeral Home at Remsen.

Mr. Kloster was born Aug. 1, 1890, in Oyens to Thorvald and Anna Sophia Nielsen Kloster. He married Marie Nielsen. She died in 1977.

He owned and operated the Oyens Tank and Service Line from 1936 until 1962. He served as Oyens city clerk for many years.

Mr. Kloster was active in community affairs and was an active member of (now disbanded) Gethsemane Lutheran Church in Oyens for many years. He served in many offices of the church council at that church.

Survivors are two sons, Norman of Ruthven and Delnar of Longmont, Colo.; two daughters, Edna Kloster and Mrs. Herman (Frances) Oetken, both of Le Mars; a brother, Niels Kloster of Remsen; a sister, Mrs. Herlig Petersen of Le Mars; nine grandchildren and eight [great] grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by his parents; seven sisters, Mrs. Harry Wallinga, Mrs. Frank Kunath, Mrs. Bonde Nielsen, Mrs. Hans Miller, Elise Petersen, Mrs. Ole Anderson and an infant sister; also a brother, Nis Kloster.
