Bob Dempster is Heart Victim
Funeral services for Robert L. Dempster, 56, were held Tuesday, April 26, at the First Methodist church in LeMars. Rev. H. V. Bartz officiated, assisted by Rev. Frank Patterson. Burial was in the city cemetery under the direction of Mauer Funeral Home.
Mr. Dempster died unexpectedly Saturday morning, April 23, at the service station which he operated at 126 Plymouth St. He was stricken with a heart attack.
He was born June 25, 1898, in Plymouth county. He married Esther Elizabeth Coons July 24, 1953 in LeMars.
Mr. Dempster was a veteran of the Rainbow division in world war 1, a member of American Legion, past member of Giblem Masonic lodge, past exalted ruler of the Elks lodge, a past patron of the Rainbow Girls, a member of the Eastern Star, Abu-Bekr Shrine of Sioux City and the Commander of LeMars.
Survivors include his wife, Esther; two daughters, Mrs. Herb (Margaret) Norton of Neligh, Neb. and Miss Bonnie Dempster of Iowa City, Iowa; two brothers, Henry of LeMars and William of Neligh, Neb.
Other survivors include seven sisters, Mrs. Robert (Jennie) Scott, Plainview, Veb., Miss Ellen Dempster, Mrs. Elizabeth Reeves, Mrs. Gregg (Mable) (sic--Mabel) Featherston, Mrs. Charles (Bertha) Tucker, all of LeMars, Mrs. Elmer (Laura) Featherston of Chicago, Ill., and Mrs. Kenneth (Marian) Kiest of Warrenville, Ill.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Wilma; two brothers John and James, and his parents.
