Joseph Deegan Rites Set Friday in LeMars Church
Funeral services for Joseph F. Deegan, 66 of rural Orange City, will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the First Presbyterian church in LeMars with Rev. James Ransom officiating.
Burial will be in LeMars Memorial cemetery under direction of the Mauer funeral home. A prayer service will be at 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Mr. Deegan, a lifelong resident of Plymouth and Sioux counties, died at his home Tuesday morning of an apparent heart attack.
He was born Jan. 23, 1901, in Plymouth county, the son of William and Catherine (Quinlan) Deegan, and had farmed most of his life.
He married the former Alice S. Moir Dec. 8, 1929 (error--1928 per wedding announcement), in LeMars. Mr. Deegan was an elder in the First Presbyterian church.
Survivors are his wife; two daughters, Mrs. Dale (Joanne) Thiesse of Little Rock, and Mrs. William (Kathryn) Bomgaars of LeMars; one brother, LeRoy Deegan of rural LeMars; five sisters, Mrs. T. K. Chapman of LeMars, Mrs. Omar Topf of Salix, Mrs. Martin Pletschette of Cherokee, Mrs. Ralph Bergin of LeMars, Mrs. Cecilia Langenhorst of Hospers, and five grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, William and John H. Deegan.
