Note: His mother's maiden name was Kress.
William Koch was born on a farm near Remsen, Iowa, June 4, 1881, and his parents located on a farm six miles east of Akron in the spring of 1892. Here he grew to young manhood. From early boyhood he was an industrious worker on his father’s farm. His habits of life were most exemplary and his ambitions led him to enter upon a six-year course in the mechanical engineering department of the State Agricultural college Ames, Iowa. He had completed four years of the course, with splendid standing, when his condition of health demanded rest. His prospects in the chosen profession were unusually bright. Always of a generous accommodating and altogether likeable disposition, the young man’s many friends deeply regret his untimely taking away and extend their heartfelt sympathy to the bereaved family.
A brief service in English was conducted by Rev. Fred Meske yesterday noon at the family home after which the remains were taken to the Johnson township German Lutheran church, where the pastor, Rev. T. Meyer, had charge of the funeral services, which were largely attended by friends of the family. Interment was made in the Johnson township cemetery.
