William "Bill" E. Kjose, 77, of Sacramento, CA, formerly of Akron, IA, died peacefully and free of pain Thursday, May 25, 2006 at Sacramento nursing home, succumbing to a battle with cancer.

Cremation has taken place and graveside services will be held Friday, July 14, 2006 at Riverside Cemetery in Akron, IA with Reverend Dawn Quame of Immanuel Lutheran Church, E.L.C.A. in Akron officiating. The Carlsen Funeral Home - Schroeder Chapel in Akron is in charge of local arrangements. Condolences can be sent to the family at www.carlsenfuneralhome.com.

William "Bill" Edward Kjose was born May 7, 1929 in Akron, IA, the son of Clarence and Gladys (Prewitt) Kjose. He grew up on a farm near Akron, where he learned the value of hard work and the skills of an outdoorsman. He was a high school and college athlete. Following his schooling, he became a successful businessman.

On a fall afternoon in 1949, he met Mary Alice Williams, the love of his life. They were united in marriage in 1950. Together, they are the parents of two beautiful daughters, Deborah and Gretchen. His wife passed away in 1998. He was a member of the Masonic lodge and Shrine temple.

Bill loved to hunt, fish, and shoot trap. He cherished his friends, both two and four legged. Those who knew him experienced his wonderful wit, and beautiful voice. But most of all, he loved his family.

Survivors include his two daughters, Deborah Church and Gretchen Kjose, both of California; two grandchildren: Kasey Church Brown and Scott Freeburg of California; and a sister: Mary Lou Hagen of Sun City, AZ.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Mary in 1998. Cremation has taken place and graveside services will be held Friday, July 14, 2006 at Riverside Cemetery in Akron, IA with Reverend Dawn Quame of Immanuel Lutheran Church, E.L.C.A. in Akron officiating There will be no visitation or viewing.
