Barry William McDougall, 74, of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, formerly of Le Mars, Iowa, passed away on Sunday, April 28, 2024, at Ava’s House in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

Funeral services will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 3, 2024, at the The Methodist Church of Le Mars. Rev. Dr. Jean Ziettlow will officiate. Burial will follow at Memorial Cemetery in Le Mars. Visitation will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 2, 2024, at the Mauer – Johnson Funeral Home in Le Mars. The family will be present from 5-7 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. There will also be one hour of visitation at the church prior to the funeral service.

Barry William McDougall was born March 30, 1950, in Whittier, California to Bill and Erlene (Plueger) McDougall. Barry was an avid sports lover and participant. He graduated in 1968 from Le Mars Community High School. Barry graduated from Westmar College in 1973.

For several years Barry was a cattle buyer. In 1984, Barry opened his own business, McDougall Commodities, in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, which he maintained for 39 years until health issues forced him to retire. Barry and Sara enjoyed over 20 summers at Manhattan Beach on Lake Okoboji. They also attended many Iowa Hawkeye Football games while Heather was in college.

Barry is survived by his wife, Sara of Sioux Falls, SD; his daughter, Dr. Heather (Tommy Brown) McDougall of Sioux Falls, SD; his son, Justin (Irina) Mc Dougall of Colorado Springs, CO; his grandchildren, Jake, Ellie and Nick Brown all of Sioux Falls, SD; his father, Bill (Dee) McDougall of Le Mars, IA; his brother, Mike of Sioux City, IA; his sister, Cindy of Sioux Falls, SD; a niece, Dr. Valerie (Brian) Kestner of Leawood, KS; and a nephew, Bob McDougall of Le Mars, IA.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Erlene McDougall; and a nephew, Zachary McDougall.
