FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. -- Harold "Hal" Eilers, 84, of Fayetteville, Ark., died Monday, Oct. 27, 2003, in Fayetteville.

Hal was born in Le Mars in 1918, the son of George Edward and Margaret (Keiser) Eilers. He graduated from Le Mars High School, attended Westmar College, and served in the U.S. Army Band.

He was married to Alberta Grindle Eilers until her death in 1986.

Hal owned the Le Mars Sale Barn for many years and was an auctioneer and insurance salesman. He retired from the Immigration and Naturalization Service, where he served 14 years in New York City and Los Angeles.

He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Le Mars and Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Fayetteville.

Survivors include a sister, Lois Rees; a daughter, Jane Morton and son-in-law, Terry, and granddaughters Joanna and Leah Morton, of Fayetteville.
