Park Rapids, MN -- Jones Pearson Funeral Home

Glenda Mae Kluver, age 78, a long time summer resident of Park Rapids, MN, peacefully passed into the eternal splendor of Heaven on Wednesday, December 12, 2018 at the Heritage Living Center in Park Rapids with her loved ones at her side.

Glenda was born on February 11, 1940 in Lake Andes, South Dakota to James and Lena (French) Nichols. As a small girl, she moved with her family to Sioux City, Iowa where she attended public school and graduated from East High School with the Class of 1958. She then went on to attend Morningside College. As a young woman, Glenda began working for the Iowa State Employment Service. She met her future husband at this time and on May 26, 1961 she was united in marriage to LouDell Eugene Kluver at the United Methodist Church in Morningside. Their marriage was blessed with a daughter, Beth on March 28, 1968 and a son, Vance on April 4, 1970. Glenda devoted herself to making a loving home for her husband and children. She was a wonderful cook and baker who will be long remembered for her delicious home-cooked lasagna, seafood dishes and her amazing cinnamon rolls. She was an accomplished seamstress who would often work late into the night sewing clothes for her children and husband. She also taught herself how to reupholster furniture and became very proficient at this hobby. Glenda also enjoyed using her talents doing oil and water paintings. She was an excellent bowler and competed on a mixed league with LouDell. In the midst of her very active lifestyle, Glenda was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 1983. Upon learning of this, she determined to continue using her skills and talents as actively as she could and that is exactly what she did. From 1977 through 1978, she and LouDell moved to Havant, England where her husband worked for IBM. They traveled through Europe extensively with their children. In 1991, after LouDell retired, they purchased a motor home and traveled throughout the United States, Canada and Alaska. In 1998, they began spending their spring through fall months on Fish Hook Lake near Park Rapids and wintering in the south. Glenda enjoyed spending her time on or near the lake. She enjoyed fishing for walleye with LouDell or just riding in the boat. Glenda’s faith was an important part of her life and she enjoyed worshipping at Calvary Lutheran Church in Park Rapids. Above all, Glenda looked forward to spending time with her husband and children who she loved with all her heart.

She will be lovingly remembered by her husband and soulmate for these past 57 years, LouDell of Park Rapids; her daughter, Beth (Tim) Burton of Rochester, MN, and her son, Vance Kluver of Longmont, CO; her two sisters: Betty Cook of Cedar Rapids, Iowa and Cheryl (Dennis) Fisher of Dallas, Oregon; as well as a host of dearly loved nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Glenda was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Shirley.

Services will be held at a later date.
