MRS. ANNA CROWLEY RESIDED HERE FOR MANY YEARS.
DECEASED WAS NATIVE OF IRELANDMrs. Anna Crowley, a well known resident of Plymouth county and LeMars for many years, died at her home on Hubbard street on Friday morning, aged eighty-eight years. Death came suddenly and was due to a stroke of paralysis.
Mrs. Crowley was a native of Ireland. Her maiden name was Anna Pewters and she was born in the County Clare in September, 1829, where she grew to young womanhood.
When nineteen years of age she came with her parents to America and settled at Erie, Pennsylvania. She was united in marriage at that place with John Crowley. Some years after their marriage they moved west, locating in Dubuque where they lived until 1881, when they came to Plymouth county and settled on a farm south of town, where they lived until they retired to LeMars and made their home since.
Mrs. Crowley is survived by the following children: Mrs. J. J. Moffatt, of Seattle, Wash.; Mrs. S. L. Richardson, Erie, Colo; Mrs. John Walsh, Mrs. Thos. Keenan and Mrs. Harry Fitzpatrick, of LeMars. A daughter, Mrs. J. J. Sennit, of Butte, Mont., preceded her in death a few years ago. She also leaves thirty-five grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
Mrs. Crowley was a good Christian woman, a loyal friend and neighbor, was a devoted wife and mother, and had many warm friends. Her life was given to doing good to others. She was a devout Catholic and the funeral was held yesterday morning at St. James church, of which she was a faithful and consistent member, and the services were largely attended by old friends and neighbors. Rev. Father O’Farrell officiated at the services.
