Funeral services for George W. Sullivan, 88, who died Friday at the Sacred Heart hospital in LeMars after a two-year sickness was at 9 a.m. Monday at St. James Catholic church in LeMars. Father Cecil Friedman officiated.The rosary was recited at 8 p.m. at the Wiltgen-Luedtke funeral home in LeMars. Burial was at Calvary cemetery.
A retired farmer, Mr. Sullivan, was born June 7, 1869, at Ottawa, Illinois, and moved to Granville, Iowa, as a young man. He farmed near Granville for two years and then moved to LeMars vicinity where he farmed near Oyens and Merrill until 1934, when he retired and moved to LeMars.
Mr. Sullivan was married to Mary Ellen Delaney, Febrfuary 9, 1898, at LeMars. She, five brothers and two sisters preceded him in death. They were: Mrs. Cora Flaherty and Mrs. Anna Abbot; Frank, Henry, James, John and William Sullivan.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Vivian Rolfes of Sioux City and Mrs. Leo Guntren of LeMars; a sister, Mrs. Mayme Kennedy of Fort Dodge, Iowa; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
