Funeral Rites For Mrs. Maggie Kale
Mother Of Sons Who Fought For Country.

Funeral services were held Wednesday morning in the Church of the Assumption at Merrill for Mrs. Maggie Kale, who died Monday after a brief illness due to infirmities of age. Rev. F. H. Greteman conducted the services. Interment wsas made in St. Joseph cemetery, LeMars.

Maggie Gallagher was the daughter of Charles Gallagher, natives of Ireland, and was born November 1, 1857, at Scranton, Pennsylvania.

The family came West at an early day. She was married at Cedar Rapids, Iowa, August 15, 1882, to George Kale.

Shortly after their marriage they came to LeMars and then went to Merrill. They conducted a dairy farm near Merrill for many years and later operated a restaurant in Merrill.

Mrs. Kale was a Gold Star mother, three of her sons serving in the World War. She was a charer member of St. Mary’s Guild and the Altar Society of the Church of the Assumption and of the American Legion Auxiliary.

Surviving are one son, Charles Kale, member of the anti-tank company 160th infantry at Camp San Luis Obispo, California, six grandchildren, Maxine of Des Moines, Claire Jean of Minneapolis, Delores, John Patrick, George and Gerald of Merrill; three brothers, Charles and Patrick Gallagher, of Shullsburg, Wis., and John of Milwaukee.

Preceding her in death were her husband, George Kale, who passed away in 1932, two sons, Clarence and John, and one daughter, Myrtle.

Wiltgen’s funeral home in LeMars was in charge of arrangements.
