Mrs. Mary (Mae) Staab, longtime LeMars resident, was found dead in bed at her home about 10 a.m. Thursday.
Dr. Sherman Lindell, county medical examiner, said Mrs. Staab died of an apparent heart attack about 24 hours earlier, Wednesday morning. He said the woman was sitting on the edge of the bed when she was stricken.
Funeral arrangements are pending at the Wiltgen-Luedtke funeral home.
Mrs. Staab was long active in church affairs at St. Joseph Catholic church here. Her home was at 37 Seventh Ave. SE.

Mrs. Mae Staab Funeral Rites
Set Saturday Morning.Funeral services for Mrs. Peter (Mae) Staab, 74, LeMars, will be at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph Catholic church in LeMars.
Rev. Dean Walker will officiate. Burial will be in St. Mary cemetery at Remsen under direction of the Wiltgen-Luedtke funeral home.
Rosary was said by the Christian Mothers at 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. A parish rosary will be recited there at 7:30 p.m. and CDA rosary will be at 8 p.m.
Mrs. Staab, the former Mary Groth, died unexpectedly at her home Wednesday.
She was born March 29, 1893, at Algona. She was married June 24, 1914. The couple farmed near Remsen until Mr. Staab’s death in 1917.
Mrs. Staab moved to LeMars in 1918.
Mrs. Staab is survived by several nieces and nephews.
