LeMars Semi-Weekly Globe, Saturday, March 10, 1888

Death of Mrs. Donavan.
DIED: — On Wednesday, March 7th, at her residence in LeMars, Iowa, Bridget, the beloved wife of Dennis Donovan, aged 34 years.

The long expected came at last and the poor pain-racked body is at rest. Mrs. Donovan has been suffering from that terrible disease, consumption, for some months. Human skill was powerless to save her. Conscious of approaching death, her pure spirit felt no dread alarms, for the lights on the distant shore beckoned her to the “mansion not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.”

She has died as she lived, beloved by all for her noble traits of womanhood. With a disposition sweet, loving, and patient under the terrible trials of her sickness, she has passed to the Great Beyond, where we are taught to believe there is no more partings or sorrows.

Mrs. Donavan was the second daughter of Mr. Dennis Courtney and was born in the eastern part of the state in 1864. She has been married about four years, and leaves behind her a little child scarcely two years old, who will never know a mother’s care.

THE GLOBE in common with a host of friends, offers what consolation the world can give, in times of such great affliction, and trusts that time, the healer of all wounds, will allay the anguish of the husband’s heart and teach him to bow to that Power which has said; “Thy will be done.”
