Mrs. James Ryan Dies At Waterloo, Interment Here

Mrs. Elizabeth Ryan, 83, lifetime resident of Le Mars, died at St. Francis hospital, Waterloo at 3:30 a.m. Monday, April 27. Mrs. Ryan had gone to Waterloo last Monday to visit her daughter, Mrs. Herb Ludwig. She became seriously ill Saturday and was taken to the hospital where she was put under an oxygen tent. Mrs. Ryan had been suffering from a heart ailment for the past year.

Elizabeth Ahlers was born May 3, 1889, in Plymouth county. She would have been 64 years old May 3. On February 14, 1918 Elizabeth Ahlers and James Ryan were married. The ceremony was performed at St. Joseph's church where they were lifelong members. Mr. Ryan died in Le Mars in January, 1951.

Funeral services were held at 9 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph's Catholic church with Rt. Rev. Msgr. J. D. Fisch officiating.

Burial was in Calvary cemetery under direction of Wiltgen-Luedtke funeral home.

Survivors include a son, James; and three daughters, Sister Elizabeth Ann, O. S. F. of Dyersville, Iowa; Mrs. (Agnes) Herbert Ludwig of Waterloo; and Eleanor Ryan of Chicago.

Also surviving are three brothers and three sisters. They are: Sister M. Olive of Briar Cliff college, Sioux City; Andrew Ahlers of Remsen, Joe Ahlers of LeMars, Henry J. Ahlers of LeMars; Mary, (Mrs. John) Sudtelgte of Le Mars; Angeline Ahlers of Le Mars.

Mrs. Ryan was a member of the Christian Mother's society of St. Joseph's church.
