Death Of Mrs. J. P. Kenkel

Succumbed After an Operation for AppendicitisMrs. Kenkel, wife of J. P. Kenkel, residing on the Rubel farm, north of town, died on Friday morning at the city hospital. Mrs. Kenkel underwent an operation for appendicitis on Tuesday. Her condition was serious from the first and but little hope was held out for her recovery. She leaves a husband and six young children to mourn the loss of a good wife and a mother’s tender care. Mrs. Kenkel what is a native of the grand duchy of Luxemburg, Europe, where she was born in April, 1871. Her maiden name was Anna Katrin Lilling. She was united in marriage with J. P. Kenkel in 1892 and the year following their marriage they came to America in located at Granville, Iowa. In 1895 they moved to a farm near Alton and in 1901 came to Plymouth county, settling in Marion township. For the past few years they have lived in Elgin township on section 34.
The six children are, Will, Lucy, Nicolas, Tracy, Louise and Maggie. The deceased leaves a number of brothers and sisters who live at or near the old home in Luxenburg. The funeral was held on Monday morning at St. Joseph’s church in the city, Rev. F. X. Feuerstein officiating.
