DEATH OF AN OLD RESIDENT.
Owen Murphy, an old resident of Plymouth county, died at Wilter’s hotel on Friday evening after a prolonged illness of rheumatic fever complicated with heart trouble. The deceased was sixty-three years of age and a bachelor. He was native of Ireland, but came to the states when a young man.

He was for many years a resident of Galena, Illinois. He was a member of the Forty-fifth Infantry regiment during the Civil War and did good service for his country, being engaged in active service during the four years of war.

He farmed for several years in the west part of the county, but a few years ago sold his land and lived for the past two or three years with Mr. Folan.

During his illness he was cared for by his comrades in arms, members of the Mower Post, caring faithfully for him during his last sickness and doing all in their power to sooth his last hours on earth.

As far as can be ascertained, he had no relatives in the United States except a nephew and three nieces, whom he said were, the last time he knew of their whereabouts, in a sister’s home at Natchez, Tenn.

Mr. Murphy was a devout Catholic and Rev. Father Barron ministered the consolations of Mother church to him in his dying hours.

The funeral was held Sunday afternoon at 3 o’clock at St. James Catholic church and the remains were interred in the Catholic cemetery.
