Mrs. Katherine (Kate) Wanderscheid, 87, who came to this community as a young woman, died Sunday (April 22, 1979) at her LeMars residence after a brief illness.

The former Katherine Wholes, she was born Dec. 22, 1891, in Kundorf, Luxembourg. Her first husband, Anton Hermes, died in the year 1934. She married Nick Wanderscheid, April 15, 1944. He died January 2, 1961.

She was also preceded in death by her parents, a son in infancy and by a sister, Mrs. Mary Thommes.

Luedtke funeral home is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Wanderscheid was a member of the Catholic Ladies club of St. Joseph church and Christian Mothers. Christian Mothers rosary will be Monday at 4 p.m. and the parish rosary at 8 p.m. at the Luedtke funeral home.

Funeral services will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic church with Rev. Francis Staber officiating. Burial will be in Calvary cemetery, LeMars, under direction of the Luedtke funeral home.

Survivors are two sons, Lester Hermes, Omaha, and Tony Hermes, LeMars; a daughter, Mrs. Rosemary Overman, LeMars; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren, and two brothers, Joseph and James Wholes in Luxembourg.
