Obituary
Margaret C. Pecks, 101, of Le Mars, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, January 10, 2023, at New Perspective Senior Living in Prior Lake, Minnesota. Funeral services will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, January 16, 2023, at the Presbyterian United Church of Christ in Le Mars. Rev. Dr. Jean Ziettlow will officiate. Burial will follow at Memorial Cemetery in Le Mars. Visitation will begin at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 15, 2023, at the Mauer – Johnson Funeral Home in Le Mars. There will be a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will resume at 9:30 a.m. on Monday at the church.
Margaret Catherine Pecks was born on March 3, 1921, in Le Mars, Iowa to Ulrich and Anna (Lubben) Kock. She graduated from Le Mars Central High School. She earned a normal teaching training certificate which allowed her to teach. She later continued her education at Westmar College in Le Mars where she graduated in 1968 with a bachelor's degree in Education. She taught elementary school in Le Mars for 35 years before retiring in 1984. On July 11, 1942, Margaret and Bernard Pecks were united in marriage at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Le Mars.
Margaret was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Le Mars. She was named Teacher of the Year in 1972. Margaret belonged to the NFA and the I.S.E.A. Several years ago, Margaret moved to Prior Lake, Minnesota to be closer to her family. She enjoyed crocheting, quilting, making quilts for her grandchildren and making sew cards. She loved time spent with her children and grandchildren and attending all their sporting activities. But most of all, Margaret loved to talk and laugh with her friends.
She will be lovingly remembered by her daughter, Kristy Pecks of Prior Lake, MN; grandchildren, Todd Pecks, Francis “Scott” (Karen) Fisher, Tracey Gulyas, Christina (Mark) Bliven, Megan (James) DeMeuse and Sandy (Jason) Delaney; several great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Denise Pecks of Columbus, NE and a sister-in-law, Gladys Kock of Le Mars, IA.
Margaret was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her daughter, Betty Jane (Frank) Fisher; her son, Robert “Bob” Pecks; brothers, Gerhard (Katie) Kock, John (Ilse) Nagel, Harm Kock and Clarence Kock; sisters, Marie (Bill) Janssen and Irene (George) Lee.
