Linda Sue (Vander Schoor) Bouwman, 72, of Akron, IA passed away after a long battle with Pick’s Disease on Thursday, May 19, 2022 at the Akron Care Center. Funeral Services are 11:00 AM Tuesday, May 24, 2022 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Akron. A Committal Service will follow at Riverside Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church from 9:00 – 11:00 AM prior to services on Tuesday.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Linda’s honor may be directed to The Association for Frontotemporal Degeneration at: AFTD, 2700 Horizon Drive, Suite 120, King of Prussia, PA, 19406 (www.theaftd.org). Mount Funeral Home of Platte, SD and Rexwinkel Funeral Home of Akron are assisting with arrangements.

The service will be live-streamed under "Photos and Videos" on the Mount Funeral Home website (Webcasting) and through “Mount Funeral Homes” Facebook page.

Linda Sue (Vander Schoor) Bouwman was born on January 9, 1950 to Harold and Arta (Davis) Vander Schoor in Hawarden, IA. She graduated from West Sioux High School in 1968 and went on to attend Stewart’s School for hair styling in Sioux City, IA.

On May 28, 1976 Linda was united in marriage to Robert Alan Bouwman at the First Baptist Church in Hawarden. They made their home in Akron, IA where Linda ran an in-home daycare, then worked for Central Catering several years and finally at Coilcraft, both in Hawarden before retiring after over 20 years there.

Linda was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Akron, teaching Sunday School for 26 years. She shared her baking skills with others by making cakes for all occasions, enjoyed crafts, loved visiting over coffee, going shopping, watching Hallmark movies and spending time with family and friends. In August of 2019, due to the progression of her Pick’s Disease, she became a resident of the Akron Care Center.

Grateful for having shared in Linda’s life: her husband of over 45 years, Bob Bouwman of Akron, IA; two children: Michelle (Mark) Mount of Platte, SD and Eric (Luci) Bouwman of Daly City, CA; two grandchildren: Meghan Mount of Vermillion, SD and Mason (Emma) Mount of Tulsa, OK; two sisters: Sharon DeBoom of Sioux Center, IA and Debra VanBruggen of Hawarden, IA; in-laws: Janet Cope of Oklahoma City, OK, Edward Bouwman of Blanchard, OK and Jeffery (Maggie) Bouwman of Indianapolis, IN; along with several nieces and nephews, three aunts, an uncle and many cousins.

Linda was preceded in death by: her parents, Harold and Arta Vander Schoor; parents-in-law, John and Eleanor Bouwman; a brother-in-law, Norm DeBoom; two aunts; six uncles and several cousins.
