Lester Grasz, 97, of Le Mars, Iowa passed away Wednesday, June 15, 2022, at Floyd Valley Healthcare in Le Mars.
Funeral Service will be Tuesday, June 21, 2022, at 10:30 a.m. at Grace Lutheran Church in Le Mars. Reverend Timothy Geitz will officiate. Burial will follow in Resthaven Memory Gardens in Le Mars. Visitation with the family present will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, June 20, 2022, at Rexwinkel Funeral Home in Le Mars. There will be a Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will resume from 9:30 a.m. until service time on Tuesday at the church. Arrangements are with the Rexwinkel Funeral Home in Le Mars.
Lester Alfred Grasz was born October 18, 1924, in Le Mars, Iowa, the son of Alfred and Hannah (Wilken) Grasz. He grew up on a farm in Grant Township, rural Plymouth County, Iowa. He attended country school in Brunsville.
He was united in marriage to Ruth Ludwigs on May 25, 1948, at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Craig. Lester and Ruth farmed their entire married life. They started on a farm near Craig before moving to a farm east of Hinton, Iowa in 1954. In 1974, they moved to Ruth’s parents farm west of Le Mars where they farmed until retirement. Lester also did custom work for area farmers.
While living on the farm east of Hinton, he was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. After moving west of Le Mars, he became a member of Grace Lutheran Church. Lester’s life revolved around farming and church.
Survivors include his wife of over 74 years, Ruth of Le Mars; a son, Randy (Sheila) Grasz of Sioux City, IA; a daughter, Carol (Ralph) Yanacheak of Le Mars; 3 grandchildren: Joe (Aleisha) Grasz of Le Mars, Kris (Mike) Trapp of Sioux City, IA, and Stacie Grasz of Alcester, SD; 10 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; 2 brothers: Vernon Grasz of Le Mars and Larry (Dorothy) Grasz of Le Mars; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Hannah Grasz; his daughter in law, Sandy Grasz; two brothers: Orval (Jeanine) Grasz and Norman (Sally) Grasz; and a sister-in-law, Pat Grasz.
