Mary E. Singer, 76, of Sioux City, Iowa, formerly of Brunsville, Iowa, passed away on Thursday, June 9, 2022, at The Heritage at Northern Hills in Sioux City. Visitation will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 16, 2022, at the Mauer – Johnson Funeral Home in Le Mars. The family will be present from 6 -7 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. Rev. Timothy Geitz of Grace Lutheran Church in Le Mars will officiate. Burial will follow at a later date at Resthaven Memory Gardens in Le Mars.

Mary Ellen Singer was born on December 7, 1945, in Orange City, Iowa, the daughter of Arie and Ruth (DeHaan) Drost. She was raised in both Orange City and Le Mars, Iowa where she graduated from high school in 1963. After graduation, Mary took a position at Aalfs Manufacturing in Le Mars.

Mary and Ron Singer were married on May 29, 1964. They made their home in Le Mars and were blessed with two sons, Robert and John. They moved to Lincoln, Nebraska and she became a Housekeeping Supervisor for Hilton Hotels. She was also a supervisor in Cincinnati, Ohio and San Francisco, California. Mary and Ron divorced in 1974.

In 1990, Mary was reunited with her classmate, Darvin Ladenthin. She moved to Michigan to be closer to Darvin and began work at Tengam Manufacturing. Mary and Darvin moved to Denver, Colorado in 1995. Her final occupation was with Jeppesen Aeronautical Charting before retiring in 2008. After retirement, they moved to Brunsville, Iowa to be closer to family.

She is survived by her longtime companion, Darvin Ladenthin of Le Mars, IA; two sons, Robert (Cheryl Tentinger) of Jackson and John Singer and his wife, Lori, of Dakota City, NE; seven grandchildren, and one brother (Kevin).

Mary was preceded in death by her parents.

The family wishes to thank Hospice of Siouxland and the Heritage of Northern Hills for all of their help.
