Death of J. V. Harker
J. V. Harker, who died in this city Monday morning was sixty-five years old and had been a resident of this county for about eighteen years. He had been suffering for some time before his death with asthma, and this, in connection with lung trouble, caused his death. He left a wife and five children; all grown to mourn his loss. Mr. Harker was known as a local preacher of the M. E. church. The funeral took place from the church in this city Wednesday, at 2 p.m.

John V. Harker was born in Yorkshire, England, on July 6, 1827, and married Alice Liddell on February 12, 1853. He joined the Protestant Methodist church in 1858, and for some time was a local preacher for that organization. He came to Plymouth County, Iowa about twenty years ago and was a highly respected citizen. He died after a short illness. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. C. Carr of the First Methodist Episcopal Church of Le Mars on Monday, February 13. Several relatives from abroad were present to attend the obsequies. A wife and five children survive him.
The family desire to extend their heartfelt thanks to the friends for their aid and sympathy during their afflictions.
