William G. Wittkop

William G Wittkop, lifelong Le Mars and area resident,82, died unexpectedly Saturday (June 15, 1985) at Floyd Valley Hospital in Le Mars.

The Funeral will be at 10:30 am Tuesday at St. James Catholic Church in Le Mars with Rev George McFadden officiating. The burial will in Calvary Cemetery in Le Mars the parish rosary will be at 8p.m and the Knights of Columbus rosary will be at 8.30 p.m. Monday at the Luedtke-Feuerstein Funeral Home in Le Mars. Six nephews will be casket bearers.

Mr. Wittkop was born Sept. 24, 1902, in Le Mars to John and Theresa Niggman Wittkop. He married Verna Pottebaum Nov 23, 1943, in Alton. He lived all of his life in the Le Mars area and the couple farmed near Le Mars until 1968 when they moved into town. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Trinity Council 1466.

Survivors are his wife; five daughters Mrs. David (Donna) Dreckman of Orange City, Mrs. Donald (Marlene) Miller of Le Mars, Nancy Chandler of Omaha; Mrs. Richard (Patricia) Schmaltz of Columbia, Mo, Mrs. Randy (Diane) Day of Kingsley, two sons, Richard of Cherokee, and Thomas of Marion, Iowa, two sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Groetken and Theresa Wittkop, both of Le Mars, a brother, Charles, of Sheldon, 19 grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a grandson; four brothers, Henry, Tony, John, and George; two sisters, Mary Neisus and Anna Wittkop.
