MARGARET I. SHEARER DIES FOLLOWING A LONG ILLNESS
Miss Margaret Isabelle Shearer, 85, a former Akron resident, who lived at 202. Myrtle Street in Sioux City, passed away in a hospital there Wednesday, December 16, after an extended illness.
Miss Shearer was born April 19, 1875, at Red Oak, Ia. When she was 11 years old she moved with her family to Akron, where she attended school, and went to Sioux City in 1903.
She was graduated from a nursing school in Sioux City, practiced as a nurse for many years, and for seven years operated a nursing home there at 16th, and Pierce Street.
Miss Shearer was a member of the Akron Methodist church, and after moving to Sioux City attended the Knox and Westlawn Presbyterian churches.
Preceding her in death, besides her parents, was a brother Daniel.
Survivors are two nephews R.F. Shearer and Thomas Shearer, both of Sioux City.
Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at the W. Harry Christy funeral home in Sioux City, Rev. Peter G. Koopman, pastor of Westlawn Presbyterian church, officiating. Burial was in Akron Riverside cemetery.
