Arlene Peters, 93, of Le Mars, died Friday, Oct. 29, 2021, at Floyd Valley Healthcare in Le Mars.

Arlene Marie Renken was born on Nov. 3, 1927, to John and Sena (Ludwigs) Renken in rural Le Mars. She was baptized and confirmed at Christ Lutheran Church in rural Le Mars. Arlene worked for a short time at Kahout Cap Factory where she learned to sew. On Dec. 29, 1948, she was united in marriage to Clifford Samuel Peters. Arlene was an active member at Christ Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday School, sang in the choir, and volunteered for VBS. Together they farmed until 1993 when they moved into Le Mars. They then joined St. John’s Lutheran Church where she was active in WELCA. Arlene also volunteered for many years as a 4-H leader for Grant Clever Clovers.

While on the farm, Arlene raised many chickens and ducks; she also grew a large garden and canned the garden produce. Arlene was a great cook and baker, she often made homemade bread. She loved camping, fishing, and playing cards, especially pinocle. She also enjoyed sewing, making lots of clothing for her daughters, and crocheting.

Arlene is survived by her daughters: Jane (Myron) Plueger and Amy (Terry) Maass; son-in-law, Mike Delperdang; grandchildren: Andrea Delperdang, Jessica (Dusty) Hannah, Lisa (Eric) Mayrose, Ryann (Adam) Sanow, Kacy Plueger, Megan Maass, Nicole Maass, Andy Maass, and Josh Maass; great-grandchildren: Skylar Hannah, CJ Hannah, Tayten Sanow, Taeleigh Sanow, Sawyer Mayrose, Mia Mayrose, and Caleb Christenson; sister: Verda (Jim) Marienau; sisters-in-law: Lee Renken, Joan Renken, and Kathy Renken; and nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Arlene is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Clifford Peters (Oct. 18, 2020) daughter, Wanda Delperdang (Nov. 28, 2020); brothers: Victor, Erwin, Wilbur (Jerlois), and Donald Renken; infant sister, Berniece Renken; brothers-in-law: Lloyd, Erwin, Emmett, Elmer, Sidney, and Harold Peters; and sisters-in-law: Evelyn Johnson and Verna Carpenter.

Funeral Service will be 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, Nov. 3, at St. John’s Lutheran Church with Rev. Chris Meier officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memory Garden in rural Le Mars. Visitation with the family present will begin at 4 p.m., with a Prayer Service at 7 p.m., all on Tuesday, Nov. 2, at Rexwinkel Funeral Home of Le Mars.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Park Place Estates or the Cardiopulmonary Department at Floyd Valley Healthcare.
