Solemn requiem mass has been set at 9 a.m. Tuesday Joseph Catholic church for Anton Hames, 73. who died on Sunday at his home at 809 2nd Ave. SE after over a year's illness. The Rt. Rev. Msgr. J. D. Fisch will be the celebrant of the mass, with Rev. Lawrence Schoeppner of Oyens as deacon; Rev. William Devine, sub-deacon, and Rev. Lee Walsh, master of ceremonies. Burial will be in Calvary cemetery. Six nephews will be pallbearers. Friends may call at the Wiltgen-Luedtke funeral home until service time. Parish rosary will be recited tonight at 8 o'clock.
Mr. Hames was born May 4, 1888, at Holzem, Luxembourg. He came to this country in 1910, settling near Remsen. He attended former Trinity College, Sioux City, where he played football.
He married Lucy Wilms, Feb. 7, 1917, at Remsen. The couple farmed in the Remsen and Le Mars vicinities for 41 years, retiring to Le Mars in 1951.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Mrs. Ray (Marie) Goetzinger, and three sons, Raphael, Orville, and Richard, all of Le Mars; five grandchildren; a sister and brother, Mrs. Peter Feller of Marcus and J. P. Hames of Remsen.
He was preceded in death by two brothers and four sisters
