LAST RITES FOR MRS. SIEBENS
LARGE NUMBER OF PEOPLE ATTEND FUNERAL OF HONORED PIONEER OF GRANT.

Last rites were held Sunday afternoon at Christ Lutheran Church, Mammen, in Grant township conducted by Rev. Fred Bunge and Rev. Theo. Meyer for Mrs. Eilt Siebens, aged 81, pioneer of Plymouth County, and were largely attended by relatives and neighbors.

Mrs. Fauke Gerdes Siebens, nee Saathoff, daughter of Gerd Saathoff and his wife, Antje, nee Schmidt, was born on January 4, 1852, in Bangitedt, Eastfriesland, Germany. In infancy she was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith on March 6, 1868, in Bangitedt. She was married August 6, 1873, to Eilt Siebens and to this union nine children were born, of which one died in infancy. In the year 1882, they left their home and country to emigrate to America, making their home in Minonk, Woodward county, Illinois. Here they resided until February, 1894, when they moved to Plymouth county. Here the departed resided until the end of her life.

During the last years of her life, she lived with her children, who gave her loving care. At the time of her departure she was staying with her daughter, Mrs. Lena Johnson, where she died suddenly at the ripe age of 81 years, 10 months and 5 days.

The departed is mourned by five daughters: Mrs. Anna Miller, Dena Fisher, Minnie Borchers, Lena Johnson, Cina Plueger; three sons: Gerd Siebens, Claus Siebens, John Siebens; thirty-five grandchildren and eighteen great grandchildren.
