Hubert Kulvik, Sr.
ELK POINT, S.D.—Hubert Chester Kulvik Sr., 81, formerly of Newfolden, Minn. Died Sunday, June 7, 1998, at a Sioux City hospital.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at St. Paul Lutheran Church in rural Elk Point, with the Rev. Mary Feistner officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery at Akron, Iowa. Visitation will be 2 to 8 p.m., at the Schroeder Funeral Home in Akron.
Mr. Kulvik was born Aug. 22, 1916, in Westfield Township, Plymouth County, Iowa, the son of Albert and Rosabell (Lewison) Kulvik. He attended school in Elk Point.
He married Lorraine “Babe” Peck on July 1, 1942, in South Sioux City. He was employed with Zenith Corporation until it closed and farmed near Sioux City. In 1974, they moved to Newfolden, Minn., where he farmed for many years. She died in an automobile accident in September 1980.
Survivors include three daughters, Dixie and her husband Noel Morton of Newfolden, Susan Madden of Akron and Alberta and her husband Duane Madden of Akron; three sons, Albert “Al” and his wife Violet of Thief River Falls, Hubert Jr. and his wife Shirley of Sioux City and Jeff of Newfolden; five grandchildren, Dennis and Jennifer Madden, Christina (Kulvik) Lee, Albert Jr. and Patricia Kulvik; two great-granddaughters; three stepsons, Darrell, Daniel and Michael Sams of Thief River Falls; and three sisters, RueAdene Hovland of Custer, S.D., Lorraine Egly of Panora, Iowa and Audrey Kjose of Akron.
He was preceded in death by a grandson, Duane Nickolas Madden Jr.; and two brothers, Vernon and Ronald.
