Obituary

Funeral services for Mrs. Andrew Johnson, 89, Chico, Calif., were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the First Church of Christ at Akron, Iowa. The Rev. Jerry Dietz officiated. Burial was in Riverside cemetery. Mrs. Johnson, a former Union County resident, died Friday at Chico after a long illness.

The former Bessie Irene Marple, she was born March 25, 1879, in Hardin County, Iowa. She was married to Mr. Johnson Sept. 19, 1899, in Union County. He died in 1934 in Union County.

Mrs. Johnson lived on a farm in Union County near Akron, before moving to California 35 years ago. She was a member of the First Church of Christ and the Order of Eastern Star at Akron.

Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Joseph Flores of Chico, Calif., two sons, John Johnson of South Sioux City and William B. Johnson of Sioux City; six grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Eldon Daniel, John H. Johnson, Dallas Wilkens, Darcy Flethcher and Marion Morehead.
