Note: I wrote a comment in the wife's obituary that the family name is correctly spelled Gant instead of Gaunt because Gaunt is how it was spelled in the newspaper. But family records show that it may have been Gaunt and later changed to Gant.
Note: His wife's maid name is Beaulieu.

Resident of Plymouth County Sixty YearsPatrick Gant, 77, well known stock farmer and landowner in Plymouth County for many years, died Sunday at the home of his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Cecil McGruder, in LeMars. Mr. Gant had been in poor health for a long time and death was not unexpected.
Patrick Gant was born in Canada, and when a youth in his teens came to Plymouth County. In early days he operated a large farm in Sioux township and owned several hundred acres of land and farmed on a large scale, raising cattle and hogs and dealing extensively buying and selling stock.
He was widely known in the community where he lived for over sixty years.
He is survived by his sons, Thos. Gant of Hawarden, William and Stephen Gant of Akron, Emmett Gant of Sioux City, Leonard Gant of Geddes, S.D., and daughters, Mrs. Rita Kirby of Minneapolis, Mrs. Cecil McGruder of LeMars, Mrs. James Cahill, of Clinton, and Sister Wilfred of Clinton.
The funeral will be held this Tuesday morning in St. Patrick’s church at Akron, Rev. Charles Ernst, the pastor, officiating, and interment made in the Catholic cemetery at Akron.

Patrick Gant, 77, well known stock farmer and land owner in Plymouth county for many years, died Sunday morning, May 10, 1942, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Cecil McGruder, in LeMars. Mr. Gant had been in poor health for a long time and death was not unexpected.
Patrick Gant was born in Canada, and when a youth in his teens came to Plymouth county. In early days he operated a large farm south of Westfield, in Sioux township, and owned several hundred acres of land and farmed on a large scale, raising cattle and hogs an dealing extensively buying and selling stock. He was widely known in the community where he lived for over sixty years. He was highly respected in a wide circle of friends and acquaintances.
He was preceded in death by his wife, who passed away 30 years ago, and one son, who passed away eight years ago.
He is survived by his sons, Thomas Gant, of Hawarden; William and Stephen Gant, of Akron; Emmett Gant, of Sioux City; Leonard Gant, of Geddes, S. D.; and daughters, Mrs. Rita Kirby, of Minneapolis; Mrs. Cecil McGruder, of LeMars; Mrs. James Cahill, of Davenport, and Sister Wilfred, of Clinton, Iowa. All the children were present at the last rites.
The funeral was held Tuesday at 9 a.m. in St. Patrick’s Catholic church in Akron, Rev. Father Chas. Ernest officiating. The pallbearers were Frank Dennison, Emmett and Wm. Welch, Everett Coyle, Lovay Lamoureux and James Klauer. Interment was in the Catholic cemetery here.
Relatives and friends attended the funeral from Sioux City, Elk Point, LeMars, and Westfield.
