PIONEER ANSWERS TO DEATH'S CALL

Mrs. Elizabeth Dreckman Attains Age of Nearly 81—Funeral Held Tomorrow

Elizabeth Dreckman, wife of the late Frank Dreckman, pioneer settler of this community, died at the home of her son Frank Dreckman, northwest of LeMars, Wednesday, at the advanced age of 80 years, 10 months and 28 days. Deceased was sick for about a week.

The funeral will be held Friday morning at 10 o'clock, from St. Joseph's church and burial will be made in St. Joseph's cemetery, with Wiltgen's funeral directors in charge.

Mrs. Dreckman was born in Muenster, Westphalia, Germany, and came to America when a young girl settling in Illinois. She had been a resident of Iowa for 51 years and for the last 25 years made her home with her son.

At the age of 17 she was united in marriage to Frank Dreckman at Mendota, Ill., and she leaves the following children to mourn her loss: Frank, Bernard, of this community; Annie Riegler of Saskatchewan, Canada; Date Deiterman, Struble, and John Dreckman. Besides her children she leaves 48 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Dreckman was a good member of St. Joseph's church and raised a respected family. Her death will be mourned by all of her friends who enjoyed her acquaintance.

Deceased Woman Leaves Large Number of Descendants

Death claimed Mrs. Elizabeth Dreckman, a resident of Plymouth county for more than half a century, at her home in America township, Wednesday, after an illness of seven days. Death was due primarily to failing powers due to weight of years. She was the wife of a pioneer of Plymouth county, coming here fifty-one years ago. She had made her home with her son, Frank Dreckman, for the past thirty years.

Her maiden name was Elizabeth Heubrock and she was born at Muester, Westphalia, Germany, November 5, 1848, and was 80 years, 10 months and 28 days old.

When a girl she came with members of her family to America and they settled in Illinois. She was united in marriage when seventeen years of age to Frank Dreckman at Mendota, Ill., and they lived in Illinois until they came to Iowa.

She is survived by her sons, Frank, Bernard and John Dreckman, of this vicinity, and daughters, Mrs. Annie Riegler, living in Saskatchewan, Canada, and Mrs. Katherine Determan, of Struble. There are forty-eight grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren.

Funeral This Morning

The funeral services will be held this morning at St. Joseph church in this city.

Mrs. Dreckman was widely known especially among the older residents, and was esteemed by everybody who knew her.
