OBITUARY—ROBERT KNECHT

Brief mention was made in these columns of the death of Robt. Knecht, a former Akron resident, at Columbus Junction, Iowa, Tuesday night, July 27, 1943, in the Olk Folks Home.

Robert Knecht was born at St. Joseph, Missouri, February 19, 1862. He came to Iowa at the age of five years. He was married to Miss Elizabeth Bohl in 1891. To this union eight children were born. His wife passed away in 1908 and one daughter, Mrs. Mary Johnson, in 1922.

Mr. Knecht is survived by five sons and two daughters; Mrs. Clarence Andrews, of Beresford, S. D.; Mrs. Katie Johnson, of Cherokee, Iowa; Goerge, of Delavan, Wis.; Roy of Le Mars, Iowa; Herbert, of Reseda, Cal.; Ernest of Westfield, Iowa, and John, of Akron, Iowa; also by 33 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

Mr. Knecht was a resident of Akron for thirteen years before going to Columbus Junction to live about three years ago. His many friends here regretted to hear of his demise.

Funeral services were held Saturday, July 31, at 2 p.m., at the Rossow Funeral Home in Akron, Rev. J.A. Paunkuk, of Trinity Lutheran church, officiating. Burial was beside his wife in the cemetery at Merrill, Iowa. Acting as pallbearers were: Melvin Andrews, a grandson; Howard Nielsen, a granddaughter’s husband; John Toben, George Beeler, Gus Beeck and Fred Meins.
