Peter Gehrens Buried Monday
Died In Hospital At Advanced Age

Funeral services for Peter Gehrens, 87, were held at St. Mary’s church in Remsen, Monday morning, August 9, at 9 o'clock. Rev. M. A Schemel officiated and interment was in the St. Mary's cemetery at Remsen.

Peter Gehrens was born in Luxembourg, April 11, 1856, and as a young man, he went to France to live. He made his home there until after his marriage to Katherine Weiler. He came to the United States in 1905 and settled in Remsen and lived in that community for the past 39 years

Mr. Gehrens died Friday, August 6, at the Sacred Heart hospital in Le Mars. He had been failing in health for about a year but was only seriously ill the last few weeks.

Surviving are three sons and seven daughters: Mrs. Mary Beelner, Kingsley, Mrs. Mike Klein, Remsen, Mrs. Emmett Roberts, Chandler, Minnesota, Mrs. John Ihry, Hope, North Dakota, Mrs. Matt Boever, Walnut Grove, Minnesota, Mrs. Joe Schreier, Le Mars and Mrs. Bernard Dentzer of Chicago, Nick Gehrens, Linn Grove, Iowa, John Gehrens of Paullina, and Emil of Remsen. Also, a sister who lives in Paris, France, 60 grandchildren, and 20 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife who died 21 years ago, also one daughter, Mrs. Julius Wolf.

Wiltgen's were in charge of the arrangements.
