Evelyn Goold

Evelyn Goold departed this life last Thursday evening, April 20, 1978, at our Akron hospital following an illness of several months duration. She was 69 years of age.

Evelyn Beatrice Ferris was born in Akron, Iowa, August 6, 1908. Her parents were Charles and Mary Ferris.

She became a member of the church through the sacrament of Holy Baptism June 27, 1909. She became a communicant member of Immanuel Lutheran church in Akron through the rite of confirmation on Sunday, August 20, 1922.

At a wedding service in Elk Point, South Dakota, December 12, 1928, she was united in marriage to Harold Tyler. This marriage was ended less than two years when Mr. Tyler was killed.

During her lifetime after she left Akron, she resided in Oklahoma, in Denver, Colorado, as well as in the Los Angeles and Hollywood, California, areas.

In 1972 she returned to Akron, Iowa, the place of her childhood and youth and had lived here ever since. We were told by those who knew her that she was a kind and friendly person to know.

Among those who survive her departure are: her sister, Mrs. Opal Lamoureux of Akron, Iowa, together with several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Mary Ferris; her husband, Harold Tyler, and her brother, Harold Ferris.

The funeral service in her memory was at Immanuel Lutheran church, Monday, April 24, 1978, with Pastor David J. Roy, officiating.

Phyllis Frisk was organist and accompanied Carol Harris who sang "Beyond the Sunset" and "The Old Rugged Cross."

Casket bearers were" Gary Buum, Greg Buum, Allen Clarey, Bruce Lamoureux, Mike Rollins and Roger Rozell.

Interment was in the Riverside cemetery under the direction of the Schroeder Funeral home.
