Lulu Penning

Lulu Penning, 77, Route 5, LeMars, passed away at the Brentwood rest home on February 26, [1964] after a sickness which lasted several years. She had been at the home for two years.

Lulu Lancaster was born December 13, 1886, at Seney. She resided at Ashton for several years after her marriage on June 10, 1907, to John Penning at Sioux City. She returned to Seney vicinity where she since resided.

She was the daughter of William Lancaster and Margaret Knewstubb Lancaster. Her second husband, now deceased, was Albert U. Penning whom she married in 1923.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 29, 1964, at 3:30 p.m. at Seney Methodist Church. Burial will be in the Seney Cemetery under direction of the Mauer Funeral Home. Rev. Milo Morris will officiate.

Survivors include three children, Mrs. Mabel Kennedy, LeMars; Mrs. Ray (Florence) Hinde of Montevideo, Minnesota; and Vernon Penning, rural LeMars. There are nine grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren and a sister, Mrs. Margaret Rees, of Seney.

She was preceded in death by her husbands and two brothers, three sisters and two infant sisters.
