Benjamin Hinken
Benjamin C. Hinken passed away at the Sacred Heart hospital in Le Mars on Thursday evening, October 12, following a stroke.
Mr. Hinken was born at Kingsley, Iowa, on October 14, 1885, and was 64 years, 11 months, 28 days at the time of his passing. He was united in marriage to Mary Hamman on April 2, 1917, at Le Mars. At that time the couple moved to Remsen where he was a rural mail carrier for 18 years. In 1937 he and his family moved to Le Mars where they have since resided.
Funeral services were held at Luken's funeral home today (Monday, Oct. 16) at 1:00 p. m. Burial was in Kingsley, Iowa, under the direction of Luken's funeral home. Rev. L. L. Belk of Le Mars officiated.
Survivors include his devoted wife, 4 daughters, Mrs. Ralph Miller, (Dorothy), Mrs. Francis Longton (Margaret) of St. Paul, Minn., Marion Hinken of Camden, N. J., Bonnie of Le Mars; 4 sons, Edward of Ann Harbor, Michigan, Ben, Richard and Larry of Le Mars; 1 brother, Albert of Burke, S. D.; 4 sisters, Mrs. Bertha Palmer of Martin, S. D., Mrs. Anna Dillon of Los Angeles, Mrs. Kate Brendon of Yuma, Arizona, and Mary of Breda, Iowa, and 13 grandchildren.
Pallbearers were, John Erdman. Max Cradit, Charles Miller, Maurice Harms, John Roetman and Jack Wiltman.
