AKRON, Iowa—Mrs. Jess Pendleton, 81, of Akron died Sunday at Plymouth Manor Care Center, Le Mars, after an illness of five years.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Schroeder Funeral Home, Akron. The Rev. Dean Orris will officiate. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Akron.

Mrs. Pendleton, the former Alice Engersler, was born Sept. 8, 1896, in Hackett, Ala. She lived in Chicago and Rochester, Minn., for several years and worked as a nurse’s aide. She was married to Elmer Prothero on March 24, 1924, in Chicago. She was married to Mr. Pendleton in Sioux City. He died in 1951 (actually 1956).

Survivors include a son, Richard Prothero of Florida; six grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
