Cyclist Crash Victim

Mark L. Kamradt, 21, McCook Lake, Jefferson, S.D., died Thursday at a Sioux City hospital of a massive brain injury he suffered May 2 in a motorcycle accident in Sioux City, Dr. Thomas L. Coriden, Woodbury County medical examiner, said.

Mr. Kamradt was injured when the motorcycle he was operating apparently went out of control on a curve in the 1000 block of W. Seventh Street, police said.

The cycle jumped the curb and slammed into a utility pole, according to police. They said Mr. Kamradt was not wearing a protective head device.

The death was the sixth traffic fatality of the year in Sioux City, compared to two traffic deaths here on the corresponding date a year ago.

Mr. Kamradt was born May 10, 1953, in Sioux City. He lived in the Sioux City area all of his life and was a 1971 graduate of Riverside High School.

He married Jo Ellen Swift March 2, 1973, in North Sioux City, S. D.

Mr. Kamradt was employed by United Packing of Iowa. He was a member of Local P1280, Amalgamated Meat Cutters and Butcher Workmen of North America, and Riverside Lutheran Church.

Survivors include the widow his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lowell Kamradt of Sioux City two brothers, Jerry and Danny both of Sioux City; his maternal grandmother, Mrs. Ed Ambrose of Lebanon Ore., and his paternal grandmother, Mrs. Rudy Kamradt of Akron, Iowa.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Riverside Lutheran Church in Sioux City. The Rev. Paul Ofstedal will be in Riverside Cemetery at Akron under direction of the Berkemier Funeral Home Sioux City.

Pallbearers will be Larry Begnoche, Michael Kamradt, Ronald Kamradt, Joe Plucker, Layle Lundeen and David Faust.
