OBITUARY:

Arlan Gene Kluver, 46, of rural Le Mars died Sunday, July 22, 2001, at his residence in Grant Township.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Christ Lutheran Church, Grant Township, rural Le Mars, with the Revs. Peter Boe and Marlyn Rensink officiating. Burial will be in Christ Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. today, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., at the church.

Mr. Kluver was born Oct. 30, 1954, in Le Mars, the son of Clarence and Mildred (Reichel) Kluver. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. He attended grade school in Craig, Iowa, and graduated from Le Mars Central High School in 1972. He then attended Western Iowa Tech Community College in Sioux City, where he studied animal science.

He was employed as a cattle buyer with Mid Western Beef in Norfolk, Neb., and later for Avenue Vet Clinic in Sioux Center, Iowa. He was most recently employed as a hog buyer with Sig International in Boyden, Iowa, until retiring. He also raised Charolais cattle, sheep and elk.

He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, where he served as a deacon for several years. He enjoyed attending auctions and livestock sales.

Survivors include his wife, Christine; three children, Jessica Ann, Scott and Curtis, all at home; his mother of Ireton, Iowa; a brother, Larry of Ireton; his wife's parents, Duwane and Beverly Waddell of Westfield, Iowa; two brothers-in-law and their wives, Ed and Glenda Waddell of Yankton, S.D., and Elliot and Lauri Waddell of Westfield; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Pallbearers will be Jeff and Dave Statema, Tom Lehner, Gary Kleinschmit, Dennis Boote and Kenneth Winterstein.
