DEATH TOLL HEAVY
THREE MEMBERS OF LINCOLN TOWNSHIP FAMILY DIE TWO SOLDIERS ARE STRICKEN

Influenza with its direful consequences claimed three members of the Roepke family in Lincoln township since last Friday.

Mrs. John Roepke, the grandmother, of the family died at the home of her son Fritz Roepke, fourteen miles and one mile east of LeMars, on Friday at the age of seventy-seven years.

She was a native of Germany and lived there until thirty-five years ago when the family came to Plymouth county and settled in Lincoln township.

She leaves three daughters and a son and seven stepchildren. Mrs. E. H. Pierson of this city is a daughter. The funeral was held on Sunday at the Lutheran church in Lincoln township.

Fritz Roepke, age 30, a son of Carl Roepke, died after a brief illness from influenza on Saturday night. He was born near Joliet, Illinois, and came here with his parents when a child. He leaves to mourn his death a wife and two little boys and a large number of other relatives. Funeral services were held at the Lincoln church on Tuesday.

Frank Roepke, who lived about sixteen miles south of town, died on Tuesday from pneumonia. He was stricken about a week before his death with influenza and pneumonia developed.

Frank Frederick Roepke lived with his parents Mr. and Mrs. Julius Roepke on the Henry Muecke farm in Hungerford township. He was born in Germany on March 22, 1883, his parents coming to Plymouth county when he was a baby.

Besides his parents, he leaves to mourn his death two brothers and a sister.

The funeral services were held yesterday at the Lutheran church in Lincoln township.
