Cecelia Hentges funeral rites set

Cecelia E. Hentges, 88, a member of a prominent pioneer Le Mars family, died Monday at Floyd Valley hospital after a month’s illness.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Joseph Catholic church with Rev. Dean Walker officiating. Burial will be in Calvary cemetery under the direction of the Luedtke funeral home.

The rosary will be recited at 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Miss Hentges was born Oct. 18, 1878, in Le Mars. She resided in Chicago for several years, and was a graduate of the Cosmopolitan school of music and dramatic art in Chicago.

Soon after graduation, she returned to Le Mars and opened a music studio in her home. Miss Hentges had many pupils who studied with her throughout the years.

Surviving are a sister, Clementine; two brothers, Frank and Rome, all of Le Mars; several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Mrs. Dana (Elizabeth) Hoffman and Clara Hentges; and five brothers John, Edward, Joseph, Stephen and Leonard.
