His mother's maiden name was Church.

People were shocked Monday morning to hear of the death of Grover Lilly, at his home east of town. He had bee in poor health for some time, but lately seemed improved.

Grover Lilly was born at Ashfield, Massachusetts, January 1, 1833, and died Monday, October 28, 1907, aged 74 years, 9 months, and 27 days. In May, 1861, he married Jennie L. Bardwell and the following year they came to town, locating near Waterloo. In 1871 they moved to Plymouth county, living near Le Mars until 1885, when they came to Westfield. To them were born five sons, four of whom, Hardy B., Alonzo D., Stanley P. and Olin B., are now living and reside in this vicinity. His beloved wife also survives.

Funeral services were conducted at the home, Wednesday, by Rev. A. B. Gilbert, of Emmetsburg, Iowa, who delivered a beautiful tribute to the memory of the deceased, taking his text from II Cor. 5:1 Interment was made in Riverside cemetery at Akron.
