Lawrence Henry Renken, 84, of LeMars died Sunday, Sept. 1, 1996, at the Akron Care Center.
Services were held Wednesday, Sept. 4 at Christ Lutheran church, Grant Township, rural LeMars with the Rev. Harrison Kline officiating. Burial was in Christ Lutheran Cemetery.
Mr. Renken was born Oct. 31, 1911, in rural LeMars, the son of Herman C. and Anna (Brabander) Renken.
He married Wilhelmina "Minnie" Ludwigs Jan. 22, 1935.
Mr. Renken was a member of Christ Lutheran Church.
Survivors include his wife; five daughters and their husbands, Berniece and Walter Scheis of Struble, Leona and Robert F. Becker of Seney, Carol and Don Freking of Topka, Kan., Lorraine and Lloyd Borchers of Craig and Betty and Le Roy Schulz of Le Mars; two sons and their wives, Fred and Joyce Renken of Canton, Kan., and Richard and Jean Renken of Merrill; 20 grandchildren; 22 great- grandchildren; three sisters, Louise and her husband, Henry H. Beitelspacher, of Brunsville, Florence Utech of LeMars and Viola Tammen of Flandreau, S. D. , and three brothers and their wives, Raymond and Esther Renken and Marvin and Ethel Renken, all of Le Mars, and Lester and Beulah Renken of Hay Springs, Neb.
He was prededed in death by two brothers, George and Herman Renken, and two grandchildren, Brian Scheis and Victor Dykhuizen.
