Mark Schumacher, 54, of Le Mars, Iowa, passed away Wednesday, November 13, 2019 at Floyd Valley Healthcare in Le Mars.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, November 19, 2019 at All Saint Catholic Parish – St. Joseph Church in Le Mars. Reverend Matthew Solyntjes will celebrate Mass. Burial will follow in Resthaven Memory Gardens in Le Mars. Visitation with the family present will be after 3:00 p.m. Monday, November 18, 2019 at Rexwinkel Funeral Home in Le Mars. There will be a Parish Rosary at 5:00 p.m. and a Scriptural Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will resume from 9:30 a.m. until service time on Tuesday at the church. Arrangements are with the Rexwinkel Funeral Home in Le Mars.

Mark Anthony Schumacher was born August 8, 1965 in Hawarden, Iowa, the son of Anthony and Lois (Hoffman) Schumacher. He attended elementary school in Hawarden. In 1975, he moved with his family to Le Mars where he continued his education. He graduated from Le Mars Community High School in 1983.

Following high school, Mark began his long career in the automotive industry. He began working in the parts department for Reardon-Nuebel Chevrolet in Le Mars before moving to Davenport, Iowa, where he worked for a Chevrolet dealership. Later, he moved to Sioux City, where he went to work as the sales manager for Ratigan Motors. He was later transferred to their dealership in Omaha. After a short time, he returned to the Sioux City area and opened his own dealership, Mark’s Auto Sales in South Sioux City, Nebraska. He owned and operated his dealership for over 20 years. After he sold the business, he purchased the Corner Café in Brunsville, Iowa, which owned and operated for 6 years. After selling the business, he went to work for Rooster’s Harley Davidson in Sioux City and then later for Bob’s Bike Shop in Le Mars until his health began to fail.

Mark had a love for cars and motorcycles. He loved riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle and restoring cars. He restored many cars over the years, including a yellow 1967 Chevelle custom that was featured in the magazine, Chevy Rumble. He enjoyed watching NASCAR and collecting diecast racecars. He also enjoyed horseback riding and fishing. He was an avid fan of the Chicago Bears. Most of all, he loved the time spent with his family, especially his 3 grandchildren.

Survivors include his daughter, Lindsey (Chris) Kovarna of Hinton, Iowa, and their children, Lily, London, and Leo; his parents, Tony and Lois Schumacher of Le Mars; his sister, Pam (Jay) Johnson of Bettendorf, IA; 2 brothers, Kevin Schumacher and Brian Schumacher, both of Blue Grass, IA; his nieces and nephews, Tyler (Sara) Johnson of Bettendorf, IA, Kelcy Hamilton of Bettendorf, IA, Kyle Schumacher of Le Mars, and Emily Schumacher of Savanah, GA; his great nieces and nephews, Payton, Carson, Kinley, and Connor Johnson, and Luke and Liam Hamilton; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Leo and Dorothy Schumacher; his maternal grandparents, Cleo and Viola Hoffman; his uncle and aunt, Jim and Jean Hoffman; his cousin, Tonja Hoffman; and his faithful companions, “Newman” and “Stubby”.
