Mrs. Dick (Gratie) Westhoff, lifelong Plymouth county resident, died Saturday (April 12, 1980) at Floyd Valley hospital after a long illness. She had lived the last four years at Plymouth Manor in LeMars.
Gratie Ludwigs was born April 8, 1886, in Grant township, Plymouth county, to Gerd Janssen Ludwigs and Anna Margaret Gerdes Ludwigs. She married Dick Westhoff Dec. 14, 1905, in Grant township.
The couple farmed in Grant township. Mr. Westhoff died in 1935. She moved to LeMars in the mid-1960's.
Services were Monday at 1:30 p.m. at St. John's American Lutheran church in LeMars, Rev. William Striepe officiated. Burial was in Christ Lutheran cemetery, rural LeMars, under direction of the Mauer funeral home in LeMars.Survivors are a son, Dick Westhoff, rural LeMars, and a daughter, Mrs. George (Emma) Popken, LeMars; three grandchildren and seven great- grandchildren.
