SF Autoist Dies, Car Speeds On
A dying motorist was carried three blocks at high speed today when his foot apparently jammed on the accelerator pedal of his car, police said.
The car roared west on Ortega Avenue at speeds up to 60 miles and hour before crossing the Lower Great Highway and the northbound lanes of Great Highway. It stopped on the median strip.
The driver, Fred E. Visnow, 63, was dead on arrival at Park Emergency Hospital. Death was blamed on a apparent heart attack.
Visnow a retired food canning engineer, was driving toward Ocean Beach when he was seen to stiffen suddenly in the driver's seat at about 48th Avenue, witnesses told accident investigation officer Walter Yarnell.

Funeral services for Fred Visnow, 63, of San Francisco, Calif., former Sioux City resident, will be Tuesday at the Chapel of the Sunset Mortuary in San Francisco. Mr. Visnow died Friday after suffering a heart attack.
He was born March 28, 1903, at Akron, Iowa, and moved with his family to Sioux City as a boy. He had been a resident of San Francisco for about the last 30 years.
Survivors include the widow, Anne; a daughter, Mrs. Harold Crossland of San Francisco; a sister, Miss Grace Visnow of Sioux City; and a brother, Maurice of Sioux City.
The driver, Fred E. Visnow 63, was dead on arrival at the hospital. Doctors said he suffered an apparent heart attack.

Heart Attack Fatal To Fred E. Visnow In California
Old-time friends have regret to learn of the recent death of a former local resident, Fred E. Visnow, whose parents, Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Visnow, were pioneer settlers of Akron.
Fred was born March 28, 1904, and grew to young manhood here. He had lived in San Francisco, Calif., for many years and was employed there by the Booth Caneries until a severe illness a few years ago. He suffered a heart attack while driving alone in a car.
Surviving are his wife, one daughter, Judy and (Mrs. Harold Crossland), in California; a brother, Maurice, and sister, Miss Grace Visnow of Sioux City.
Funeral services and burial were in San Francisco Tuesday.
