DEATH OF PIONEER RESIDENTS
Le Mars Sentinel: The funeral of Mrs. Walter Cole, for many years a well known resident of Plymouth county, was held at the Crathorne church on Tuesday afternoon and the interment made in the cemetery at that place. Rev. C. H. Seward, of LeMars, was in charge of the services.
Elva Julia Gill was born December 2, 1876, in Pleasant Valley, Jo Daviess county, Illinois, and died April 2, 1922, being 45 years, 3 months and 24 days of age. She with her parents, came to Plymouth county in 1885 and grew to womanhood in this community and has lived here most of her life. The last few years she had lived in South Dakota. She was a member of the M. E. church. She was a good Christian woman, a loving wife and mother. She was united in marriage to Walter Cole, December 3, 18?7. To them were born three children, Bernice Lillian, who died about 5 years ago; Clyde, who is now in the hospital at Lead, S. D., recovering from pneumonia, and little Madeline, eight years old. Her husband survives her, and her mother, Mrs. N. A. Gill, of LeMars; two brothers, Ralph R. Gill, of Merrill, and Paul C. Gill, of LeMars, and two sisters, Mrs. Willow Morehead, of Akron, and Mrs. Emma McKinnon, of LeMars. One sister, Mrs. George Doty, preceded her in death about five years ago. Mrs. Cole has been lining near Newell, S.D., late moving to Lead, S. D., until recently she came to Plymouth county, the high altitude affecting her health. A good woman has gone from the community, who will be missed by many friends.
