REMSEN, Iowa -- Miranda Wurth, 87, of Remsen died Wednesday, Oct. 25, 2000,bat Happy Siesta Health Care Center in Remsen following a lengthy illness.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Remsen, with Monsignor Nicholas J. Ruba and the Rev. Thomas J. Hart officiating and assisted by Deacon Allen Weiler. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. Sunday, with a rosary at 3 p.m. said said by Christian Mothers and vigil prayer service at 7:30 p.m., at Fisch Funeral Home in Remsen.
Mrs. Wurth was born Feb. 20, 1913, in rural Remsen, the daughter of Aloysius and Magdalen (Scharff) Krier. She was raised in the Rensen area and attended St. Mary's Catholic School.
She married Bernie Wurth on Dec. 30, 1935, in Remsen area. Her husband died May 20, 1991. She continued to live on the farm until entering Happy Siesta Health Care Center in March 1996.
She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and Christian Mothers. She enjoyed reading and gardening.
Survivors include three sons and their wives, Richard and Janice, Jim and Mary Ellen and Thomas and Pat, all of Remsen; three daughters, Sally and her husband, Bob Ortmann of Remsen; Delores Wurth of Sioux Cith and Rose Monson of Britt, Iowa; a special family friend, Sister Mary Jane Koenigs of Sioux City; 14 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; a brother and his wife, Ray and Viola Krier of Remsen; two sisters, Clarinda Wurth of Marcus, Iowa; and Phyllis Streff of Alton, Iowa; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a son, Robert; a great-grandson; a son-in-law, Clarence Streff and Lawrrence Wurth.
Pallbearers will be Ron Monson, Rob, and Russ Ortmann, David, Greg, Mark and Tony Wurth.
